Just got back from the meeting. Every year I hear the same thing from fellow dubs in attendance the day of the special talk. "I invited such and so, guess they couldn't make it." Or, "Mike (inactive relative or friend) was supposed to be here. All you can do is ask them (shrugs shoulders.)" Scanning the audience one couldn't help but notice the lack of visitors in attendance despite the invitation campaign and upswing in temporary auxiliary pioneers. Field service is a waste of time even without so called special campaigns. After looking at the audience today, not only is it a waste of time but a joke too.

'1600 years of Ice melting in 25 years is a bad omen'
by designs inglaciologists from ohio state university have been studying the ice fields in peru.
tropical peru is home to ice formations 18,000 feet up in the quelccaya region, the largest of these tropical region ice sheets.. the glacier is melting so quickly that plant samples are having to be frozen artifically so that scientists 30 years from now can have something to study, lonnie thompson from the university said in the interview.
the ice field is the smallest it has been since the last ice age.. peruvians rely on the water from the glaciers, which will be reduced by 50% in their lifetime.

My latest university experience...
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inthis isn't a jw experience, but for those of you that have been following my life, i thought i'd have a drink and share this strange event in my post-jw life.. for you wonderful newbies, you can catch up on highlights of my story in the few threads i've started here.
i'm finishing the junior year of my engineering degree and the classes are hard as hell.
i used to be among the smartest students in the room until i hit the 300 level university courses.

Local needs talk
by hoser inone of the elders was missing his service bag and suspected that one of the publishers stole it.
he was determined to root out who did it so he decided to give a local needs part on the ten commandments focusing on you must not steal.. he enlisted the help of a trusted ministerial servant and got him to stand at the back of the kingdom hall during the part.
he told the ms that he would read off the ten commandments and when he got to the one "you must not steal" he would pause longer than usual and see if anyone acted nervous or suspicious.

I'd start an organization similar to S.P.E.C.T.R.E. of James Bond fame. It would be known as, K.O.R.A.H., which would stand for the Kabal Of Righteous Apostate Hellraizers. Our soul purpose would be the infiltration and removal of high ranking figures within the Watchtower. We would be a shadowy, clandestine group of highly trained sociopathic (double life) assassins dedicated to removing oppressive WT heavyweights not only from the organization, but also off the planet. With each act of ruthlessness our reputation will grow legendary so that anytime a high ranking and known oppressor's life expires, people will whisper things like, "I heard Ted Jaracz didn't die of natural causes, K.O.R.A.H. got him!" Some of you reading this are asking yourselves now, "but wait, this post is only theoretical, right?" I don't know, is it?
